Who We Are
We are a group of experienced babywearing parents who meet once a month to share the traditional art of babywearing – carrying babies and toddlers in slings – and explore other aspects of natural parenting.
We have recently won an award for the benefit we provide to the Manchester community.
What We Do
We help parents to learn to carry their babies through
- Informal and formal workshops
- Demonstrations
- Mother-to-mother support
- Offering access to online help
- Lending instructional DVDs
- Lending slings from our extensive sling library.
We Can Help With
- Carrying baby on your front
- Carrying baby on your back
- Hip carries
- Carrying newborns
- Carrying toddlers
- Breastfeeding in a sling
- Learning about different types of slings
Our Meetings
- The ‘sling meets’ are a mixture of friendly instruction and socialising. Think big, friendly coffee morning with a huge case of slings and some know-how.
When, Where and Who
- We meet on the first Wednesday of each month from 10am-12 noon.
- At Levenshulme Baptist Church, Elmsworth Ave, Levenshulme
- We welcome mums, dads, parents-to-be, grandparents and all other caregivers. There are toys aplenty for toddlers and pre-schoolers.
- Each session costs £2 per family, to cover venue hire.
We Believe
that the skill of babywearing, like most parenting wisdom, is best passed on from mother to mother, parent to parent. And there’s no better way to experiment with different slings than by getting together with a group of interested, supportive parents who all want to learn and share those skills.
The Benefits of Babywearing
- Calmer, happier babies, who cry up to 54% less.
- Confident parents who become finely attuned to their babies’ needs
- Increased bonding and attachment between parent and child.
- Amazing freedom! You are really hands-free, while fulfilling your baby’s needs.
